EXHIBITION STATEMENT

My work has always paralleled and expressed my emotional and spiritual journey with my life mantra ‘Heal Yourself, Heal The World’.

In the current exhibition ‘Anew World’, I find my art and life constantly echoing that of humanity. Currently in this time of expanding human consciousness we are all being coerced in one way or another to look at our relationships with ourselves, our jobs, others and the earth. To gain awareness and learn if we want to follow our hearts or our minds and practice this. My path so far has been a journey of the heart. Of learning to uncover all that blocks my true essence from shining like a thousand suns. 

My artistic practice is intrinsically entwined in this uncovering. It expresses all I learn to let go off, all I learn to rewrite, all I learn to trust and follow. This process has led me to my current work of almost pure fluidity. With water-based materials such as gouache, acrylics, inks and watercolours I am no longer defined by imagery, the idea the viewer needs to understand the work, see what I see or feel what I feel. It is a much more personalised process where I have become more in tune with the materials I am using and allowing them to express their own beauty, without force but in collaboration. Whatever occurs, this creative expression is central to my journey of healing and is another conduit to the unseen and spiritual world.
